MY FAVORITE DINNER OF 2021
VESPERTINE AT HOME’S “PARIS”
2021 saw life return closer to normal than the previous year. Thanks to vaccinations we were safer to venture back out and once again visit restaurants and bars. Yet probably my favorite dinner of the year was at home, thanks to posh Vespertine and its At Home takeaway program.

Ever since we found ourselves in lockdown mode, Vespertine, one of L.A.’s most exclusive restaurants, shuttered its doors and began offering multi-course mighty meals to indulge at home.

Verspertine describes itself as a “gastronomical experience seeking to disrupt the course of the modern restaurant” and with its Vespertine At Home meals and its contactless pickup service (meals are also available for delivery), creative themed gourmet feasts became normal.

And when Vespertine At Home offered its Paris dinner, well, it was fabulous. Dinner consisted of hors d’oeuvres (rillettes au saumon fume, jambon de bayonne, fromage camembert A.O.C., beurre echire A.O.C., and doyenne du comice), Gourmandises (crème de champignons de Paris, salade frisèe, tartiflette, Plat Principaux (confit de carard) and Petite Fours (tarte au citron, tarte au framboise, tarte au chocolat, choux a la crème, and petite madeleines). In other words—a feast of ham, cheeses, French bread, mushroom soup, salad, duck confit, and tasty tarts galore and chocolate soufflè for dessert.

Dishes are ready to serve or require simple reheating—they even come in ready to heat cookware. And the attention to detail is just spot-on. There are also available add-on dishes as well as cocktails and wine for purchase.
Vespertine, which received two Michelin starts in 2019, is the vision of Chef Jordan Kahn. The project was formed through a collaboration with architect Eric Owen Moss, and a group of renowned artists to re-imagine and explore the experience of dining. The convergence of food, art, architecture, music and sculpture is woven throughout to create an immersive multi-sensory event. But it the meantime, it’s At Home offerings are simple, stunning and stellar.

Our Paris dinner was indulgent, decadent and delicious. Course after dazzling course proved to be the perfect setting for friends to safely gather and dine divinely. Last year I thoroughly enjoyed a Oaxacan dinner and this Paris feast was simply out of this world good. These take-home dinners are pricey and you must order at least two (there are no single orders) but if you’re celebrating or feel like treating yourself in a big way, you will not be disappointed. Order via the Tock app or click here.
Vespertine is located at 3599 Hayden Avenue in Culver City. Check their website for upcoming specials.
