‘UNHINGED’ NEW RUSSELL CROWE THRILLER IN THEATERS AUGUST 21
I don’t know what’s scarier right now, a first-rate rollercoaster thriller or going to see a movie inside a movie theater. Stepping inside a movie theater, now that sounds like the making of a real-life horror movie.
With life and the “new normal” in constant flux and turmoil, the current plan is for Unhinged to open in theaters on August 21, making it the first new wide release in American movie theaters since they shut down in March due to Covid-19.
Unhinged follows a young woman who is harassed by a seemingly unstable stranger following a road rage incident.
Personally, after watching the trailer, I could see this movie playing out in real life is someone mask shamed someone who was already unstable and having a really bad day. The trailer alone seems very unsettling given our current climate.
Starring Russell Crowe and Caren Pistorius, Unhinged is directed by Derrick Borte (The Joneses) and written by Carl Ellsworth (Red Dawn, The Last House on the Left).
It will be interesting to see if local movie theaters are even open during the month of August as Governor Gavin Newsome has currently shuttered all indoor operations. Who knows, it’s possible this film can get a to-stream release or get pushed back again until movie theaters open and more importantly, movie-goers are comfortable going back inside a movie theater. Until then, check out the creepy trailer for the film.
