THE MORRISON ATWATER VILLAGE
NAMED #1 DOG FRIENDLY RESTAURANT
A longtime gastropub favorite, The Morrison, known for crafted burgers and beers with locations in Atwater Village and Burbank, is now a popular pooch palace after being named best dog-friendly restaurant in L.A. by the likes of USA Today, L.A. Times and Yelp.

Dogs are welcome to dine in the outdoor patio area at the Atwater Village location and are greeted with a silver bowl of water and doggie biscuits. How’s that for sensational service? There’s even a “Doggy Menu” offering $6 meals such as the Where’s the Beef? with chopped hamburger over rice; Cock-A-Doodle-Doo with chicken and rice; and the Frankenweinie with chopped hot dogs and rice.

During our recent visit for dinner with doggie in tow, The Captain, our hero hound, had the run of the place and made himself right at home. While Captain enjoyed his bowl of water and treats, we started with goblets of Pliny the Elder beers—an impressive get at only $9 a glass.

Our feast started with a hearty Wedge Salad with organic romaine lettuce, bleu cheese crumbles, bleu cheese dressing and bacon. It felt like a good idea to start with some greens before our burger bash began.

While Captain enjoyed his beef over rice, we opted to split “The One” Burger made with an American Kobe beef patty, shallots, aioli, truffle oil, truffle peelings, butter lettuce, port salut cheese, and grilled mushrooms served with a side of fries. The Morrison recommends pairing this bad boy burger with a Belgian Golden, IPA, Stout. At $27 a pop, this is a pricey burger but it was enough to share.
Perhaps it was overkill but we opted to share the Cheese Fries w/ Bacon Jam. A monster dish, this is a loaded plate of breaded hand-cut potato fries, cheddar cheese, homemade bacon and onion jam, and crafted Thousand Island dressing. It was a handful for sure.

If you’re looking for a cool cocktail that’s not too sweet and a little more adventurous than an Old Fashioned or Manhattan, opt for the Penicillin, a fine mix of blended scotch, fresh lemon, ginger honey, syrup and some Laphroaig 10-year. It will cure whatever ails you.
And do save room for dessert as the award-winning Butterscotch Bread Pudding (voted LA’s Best Bread Pudding by Yelp) so satisfies. A decadent dish for sure, ditch the diet add a scoop of ice cream for $2—your choices include Vanilla Bean, Jameson, Rocky Road, and Horchata. There are also countless calorie-busting cakes to choose from as well as the Churros & Ice Cream (two cinnamon churro sticks, brown coated sugar, two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, topped with a cherry). You will leave happy and most likely food coma will follow.

Big ups to The Morrison Atwater Village for going dog-friendly. What can be better than dining and drinking with man’s best friend and likewise good company? Now I’ll drink to that.
