THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM
BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Back in 2008 when New Jersey’s The Gaslight Anthem launched into the rock scene, people took notice. With the release of band’s seminal record, The ’59 Sound, that year, fans became aplenty. Their sound was definitely modern rock but with a penchant for familiar classic rock.

In 2015, the band announced it was going on an indefinite hiatus. They temporarily reunited for a string of shows in 2018 to celebrate the anniversary of The ’59 Sound before resuming their hiatus.

“We released two records, and all of a sudden we were playing with Bruce Springsteen, and there was all this, ‘You guys are going to be the next Boss,’” singer Brian Fallon said. But now the band is back together.

The Gaslight Anthem hit the road with their first headline tour in four years. The band is also currently working on new music.

“I am very pleased to announce to you all that The Gaslight Anthem is returning to full time status as a band,” said frontman Brian Fallon in a recent social media post. “We’re also beginning to write new songs for what will be our sixth LP. We’re looking forward to the future and seeing you all again. We want to thank you for staying with us.”

At the band’s recent headlining show at The Hollywood Palladium, they grooved through past hits and fan favorites. They were slightly sloppy and Fallon could get lost in conversation with the audience, but a good time was had by all.

Fallon reminisced about his love for the 1992 soundtrack for the film Singles, which led to covers of Mother Love Bone’s “Chloe Dancer” and Pearl Jam’s “State of Love and Trust.” Surprisingly they didn’t play the title track to American Slang and the rousing closing performance of “The ’59 Sound” meandered with a so-so solo by Fallon on guitar still couldn’t damper the good time.

It will definitely be interesting to see what the band comes up with next.
