Hollywood has many famous institutions—havens for live music, grub and drinks. On the Sunset Strip there’s The Rainbow Bar & Grill to drink and dine and do all things debaucherous. Nearby, there’s the Roxy and Whisky A Go Go for live music. Now, in the heart of Hollywood, get to know The Bourbon Room for your dining, drinking and rockin’ pleasure.

The ambitions here are high as The Bourbon Room aims to bring the best in live music, nightlife, comedy, and theater to Hollywood with the same edgy, rock & roll attitude that built the Sunset Strip. If Joe’s Pub and The Troubadour had a baby, it would be The Bourbon Room—at least that’s the goal.

Originally built for the hit musical Rock of Ages in July of 2019, The Bourbon Room was also home to a 10-week, sold-out run of Tarantino Live in partnership with For the Record. The venue was off to a great start until July of 2020 when Covid hit and Rock of Ages tragically lost its lead star, Nick Cordero, after complications from Covid, and everything came to a screeching halt.

“Although the pandemic has been devastating,” said Bourbon Room owner Matthew Weaver, “we used the opportunity to remodel and rebrand; and are ready to present locals and tourists with the ultimate live music and culinary entertainment experience.”

The cuisine at The Bourbon Room is courtesy of Chef Frankie and his creative menu of upscale comfort food, including a variety of entrées, shareable plates, salads, bar snacks, delectable desserts, and a full list of signature cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. For patrons attending shows at the Bourbon Room, the theater opens for service one hour prior to showtime. Food and drinks can also be enjoyed in the Cocktail Lounge before and after shows. The Bourbon Room space is a stunning 8,000 square-foot entertainment venue unlike any other locale in town paying tribute to The Sunset Strip and bringing together the best in rock & roll music, food, live entertainment, and craft cocktails. Overlooking the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Bourbon Room is a gateway to a 200-seat custom theater, flooded with neon lights and signs from iconic clubs that made The Sunset Strip the landmark that it is. The Bourbon Room features a million-dollar, state-of-the-art sound and lighting system and cutting-edge production for the ultimate live music experience. The walls display guitars and platinum records with zebra print carpet, paying further homage to The Sunset Strip.

Current live residencies include ex-GNR guitarist Gilby Clare who plays every Wednesday as Gilby Clarke & The Keef Richards. The four-piece offers a fun set of classic rock hits and some badass originals. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door and $25 for VIP.

Broadway at The Bourbon Room is a new, monthly musical cabaret showcasing Broadway’s best talent and celebrating the songs, stories, and stars of Broadway. Each month will feature a different musical theme for Broadway at the Bourbon Room, such as “Send in the Sondheim,” a night celebrating and honoring the late Stephen Sondheim in collaboration with Geffen Playhouse. Attendees can sing along to their favorite Sondheim songs, be moved by his genius work, and enjoy show-stopping performances by Broadway and LA’s best.

“With a different musical theme happening each month, drop in-celebrity guests/performances, and our post-show ENCORE! open-mic piano bar hosted by Peter Allen Vogt, there will always be something exciting and new to experience,” says Broadway at the Bourbon Room co-producer Marissa Matthews.
