SUR RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
A STAR-WORTHY BRUNCH

Fans of reality television will be no strangers to posh SUR Restaurant & Lounge in West Hollywood as its part of the popular Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives universe.

Located in trendy West Hollywood, SUR, which is short for Sexy Unique Restaurant, has been an industry and celebrity favorite for over a decade. The chic restaurant also serves as the basis for the popular BRAVO TV show Vanderpump Rules. Refurnished by Lisa Vanderpump Todd with gorgeous antiques and striking artifacts, SUR offers an intimate and a seductive vibe with an exciting, exotic flair.

“I mixed old railway sleepers with graphic modern glass tiles and gathered an eclectic mix of artifacts, designed our little velvet stools and combined them with industrial zinc tables,” says co-owner Lisa Vanderpump. “I threw a mix of French pillows, chandeliers in cages, long leather chesterfields; installed different antique doors. A complete unpredictable collection of things that I loved.”

Founded by Guillermo Zapata, SUR serves a variety of sweet and savory brunch offerings featuring tasty entrees, including classic favorites and signature cocktails with a fresh, new twist.

During our recent visit for brunch, we started with a lovely glass of Vanderpump Rosé. That was followed by a spot-on Bloody Mary, which is a great day-drinking weekend option. Other great boozy brunch beverages include the Brazilian Caipirinha and the Fresh Basil Gimlet.

Standout brunch menu options include the Frittata Omelet as well as the Vegetable Omelet. Other hearty dishes include the Pan Roasted Salmon, Blue Cheeseburger (there’s also a Vegan Burger), Italian Chicken Milanese, Linguine Primavera, and Homestyle Crispy French Toast.

Other brunch favorites of mine include the Avocado Toast Katie’s Fav! with smashed avocado, cumin salt, chopped tomatoes, sunflower seeds and chia seeds. And of course, brunch isn’t brunch without Smoked Salmon, served here with ricotta and wild capers on a toasted bagel. And the Goat Cheese Balls served pan fried should definitely not be overlooked.

Consider the Homestyle Crispy French Toast with French grilled brioche topped with fresh berries and served with a cinnamon and strawberry syrup, a brunch must-have and if you’re ravenous, then you can’t go wrong with the Blue Cheeseburger prepared with grilled Angus beef, blue cheese, grilled onions, grilled peppers, basil mayonnaise, served with French fries or salad.

Likewise, you can’t go wrong with the Pan Roasted Salmon, prepared with lemon and olive oil, roasted potatoes and sautéed broccolini, or the Italian Chicken Milanese where a chicken breast is pounded and lightly breaded, pan-fried with fresh lemon, melted mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce, served with a small green salad, pine nuts and red onions.

Brunch at SUR, especially in the outdoor patio, is so relaxing as you dine and drink in a lush and posh setting. It’s what a star-studded Hollywood brunch is all about.
