‘SCISSORHANDS’
HOLIDAY FUN AT ROCKWELL TABLE & STAGE
Get in on this season’s holiday cheer by revisiting a Tim Burton classic with Scissorhands, a fun musical parody of Edward Scissorhands playing through the end of January at Rockwell Table & Stage.
Step back into 1990 and get lost in this romantic, dark fantasy world from the macabre imagination of filmmaker Tim Burton. The film, which starred Johnny Depp as an artificial man named Edward, an unfinished creation who has scissor blades instead of hands, gets a fun and over the top reimagining as a stage play loaded with great music, including “Dream On” by Aerosmith; “Breathe Me” by Sia; “Like a Prayer” by Madonna; The Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga; and All Apologies” by Niravana; among other favorites. The story unfolds as Edward is taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their teenage daughter Kim.
Co-produced by The Fuse Project, the brand’s aim is to meld together pop culture icons, cinema and digital classics into one intense, hilarious, and thought-provoking night of epic musical theatre.
“This holiday treat has been a long time in the making, simmering inside our minds,” says Kate Pazakis of The Fusse Project. “And this being Hollywood during the holidays, we can only imagine who from the film cast might show up on any given night to celebrate with us.”
Bradley Bredeweg of The Fuse Project, says, “I have always wanted to pay tribute to Edward Scissorhands, along with the idea of a female to play the lead. Today, when diverse casting has become so important, I’m excited to turn an already big-hearted iconic holiday movie into a unique and memorable immersive theatrical experience for a modern audience.”
Tickets are on sale now for Rockwell Table & Stage, located at 1714 N. Vermont Ave in Los Feliz. Call 323-669-1550.
