ROCCO’S TAVERN
A SPORTS BAR THAT SCORES A TOUCHDOWN

When it comes to sports bar, Rocco’s Tavern, which sports locations in Studio City, Culver City, Pasadena and Westwood, aims to be in a league all its own. And ever since it partnered with former L.A. Rams running back and NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson, the result has been a Super Bowl sized good time.

With the creation of the Eric Eats menu, by way of 29 At Rocco’s Tavern, the result is a total touchdown.

“If we consider ourselves the premiere sports bar in the Los Angeles area,” says Rocco’s co-owner Leo Amari, “who better to partner with than the greatest football player in Los Angeles history.”

Dickerson, who currently works in the Los Angeles Rams front office as Vice President of Business Development, along with also being an NFL analyst for FS1/FOX national TV, is filled with gratitude over the opportunity to create a new food brand.

“I am thrilled to be associated with a sports bar as prominent as Rocco’s Tavern,” he said. “To think that food combinations I helped dream up will be served to the greatest football fans in the United States, it doesn’t get any better than this.”

During our recent visit, we feasted on an array of tasty Eric Eats dishes.

A fan favorite is the Sealy Texas Snapper – a fried red snapper dish with fries and Texas Slaw, along with the Sealy Texas Shrimp - a fried shrimp with fries and Texas Slaw.

Other hearty dishes that standout include the 29 Burger with swiss cheese, spicy mustard, red onions and tomato, and the Pony Express Pizza, in honor of Dickerson’s collegiate alma mater, with cheese, pepperoni, sausage and jalapenos. These two bad boys get the job done.

And just so no one forgets, Rocco’s has created a dish of ten spicy wings seasoned with garlic pepper, garnished with sliced fresh jalapenos served with Texas slaw and a side of 911 sauce and ranch simply called 2105 after Dickerson’s rushing record that may never be broken. Thirsty bar patrons may want to order The Rusher where for $25 you can enjoy five bottles of Corona chilled in a bucket.

I’ll give the bar credit for trying to serve handcraft cocktails, including a classic Side Car made with chilled Hennessy cognac, but the only drink I found drink worthy was The Deep Eddy Mule made with American Harvest Organic Vodka. You’re probably better off keeping your drinks simple—think beers, shots or non-complicated cocktails.

Speaking of cocktails, next door to Rocco’s Taverns in Culver City, Studio City and Westwood is its speakeasy Seventy7Lounge where the libations are elevated although the atmosphere can be very clubby on weekends.

Last season Rocco’s Tavern became the place to be to watch Rams football games but year-round, no matter what game is on, the food and drink options are plentiful and it’s a great place to feast and root for your favorite team.

Rocco’s Tavern is located in Studio City, Culver City, Pasadena and Westwood.
