PIZZA GIRL
GETS SAUCEY WITH CERTIFIED-ORGANIC PASTA SAUCE
From the family that brought us D’Amore Pizza comes Pizza Girl Pasta Sauce, a line of USDA certified-organic, locally sourced and ethically-bottle marinara, puttanesca, and vodka sauces. And just like the popular pizza chain, beloved for its pizza pies, is a line of pasta sauces that are dynamically delicious.
Pizza Girl is Caroline D'Amore, owner and executive chef of D'Amore's Pizza. It turns out that Pizza Girl is Caroline’s childhood nickname, which then became her professional persona. And to make her line of sauces, she sought the freshest, healthiest, and most delicious pasta sauces to bring to households nationwide for friends and families to enjoy together.
The sauces are packaged in 24-oz glass jars and are available for $9.99 each at all the Bristol Farms locations, as well as at Erewhon Natural Foods, Vintage Grocers, Little Tokyo Market, Westridge Family Markets, Rainbow Grocers, Seaside Market, Jayde’s, and Follow Your Heart Market.
“I grew up shopping at Bristol Farms, so it's a dream come true to be on the shelves,” Caroline D’Amore, Founder of Pizza Girl, proudly says.
Celebrity fans of Pizza Girl include an impressive who’s-who of A-listers, including Paris Jackson, Ashlee Simpson, Evan and Chudney Ross, and Emile Hirsch.
Italian dishes that Caroline personally loves to use her three organic pasta sauces include Baked Ziti, Spaghetti Squash Casserole, Veggie Penne with Pizza Girl Vodka Sauce, among others. FYI, these recipes can all be found at PizzaGirl.com for your own dinner party enjoyment.
“Coming from the D'Amore's Pizza family, it was always a dream of ours to have an at-home product line for everyone across the country to enjoy,” D’Amore explains. “Essentially, the pizza business is in my DNA, and I am proud to carry on the tradition through my own interpretation, keeping my great grandmother’s recipes alive, following in my dad’s entrepreneurial footsteps, and adding my own modern touch.”
The family-derived recipes originated with D’Amore’s great grandmother, “Big Mumma,” in Italy, and have been perfected over time in California using only local, USDA certified organic ingredients sourced with integrity.
Pizza Girl Marinara Sauce is fresh and flavorful, using onion, garlic, olive oil, diced tomato, sea salt, dried basil and dried oregano. Pizza Girl Vodka Sauce is a blend of creamy texture and Italian herbs, with fresh cream, olive oil, garlic, onion, diced tomatoes, vodka flavor, balsamic vinegar, sea salt, parmesan romano cheese blend, and dried basil. And Pizza Girl Puttanesca Sauce is rich and savory with katamala olives, capers, onion, garlic, olive oil, diced tomato, red pepper flakes, black pepper, sea salt, and dried basil.
To taste test the trio of sauces, we created the ultimate pasta party and gave them all a try.
Personally, I was not familiar with puttanesca, which is a Naples sauce traditionally made with tomatoes, olive oil, anchovies, olives, capers and garlic. This made for a delicious Spaghetti alla putttanesca. The sauce’s taste was just plain excellent. There were so many wonderful nuances to this sauce.
The vodka sauce was another winner. I don’t often have vodka pasta sauce but it worked so well on the classic Penne alla vodka. This one was a creamy champ.
And not to be forgotten, there was the marinara sauce, which was solid. It’s a great, basic sauce that really delivers.
They all worked well with our pastas. The puttanesca was bold, while the vodka was flavorful, and the marina just tasty.
Pizza Girl's sauces are also bottled in glass jars, and they have gone the extra mile by designing their own in-house shipping boxes that make using bubble wrap and plastic obsolete.
“After seeing the amount of plastic used in this industry, from packaging to the use of plastic jars, we see it as our responsibility to be as environmentally conscious as possible,” said D’Amore. “Pizza Girl is for families to enjoy together. We need to ensure our planet is healthy so that future generations can continue to enjoy the earth’s natural bounty.”
Pizza Girl will be donating a portion of proceeds from every jar sold to Smile Train who is helping children around the world in need of corrective surgery for cleft lips and palates.
Pizza Girl is available in stores, online at PizzaGirl.com, as well as at all D’Amore’s Pizza locations.
