CHANGING ‘LAST CALL’ TO 4AM
YAY OR NAY?
While we like to think of L.A. as the party capital of the world, between Hollywood’s glitz and glamour (you know, ain’t no party like an L.A. party), some folks are proposing to change Last Call from 2am to 4am. Do you think this is a good idea?
The people behind SB 635 want to be competitive with party cities like New York, Miami, London and Tokyo. They say:
"SB 635 allows local communities to take control of these important community decisions. SB 635 will elevate San Francisco and Los Angeles in specific and California in general to a level equal to or surpassing the great entertainment areas of the nation and the world. Optional 4 AM hours (which require a special permit from the NY State Liquor Authority) has certainly never hurt New York. California deserves no less..."
For one thing, cities like London, Tokyo, New York, Miami and Chicago all have great public transportation. Our metro system is very limited, which means party people will probably still drive home at the end of the night (and that’s pretty dangerous).
SB 635 will be heard at the Senate Governmental Organization Committee on Tuesday April 23 at 9:30 AM. Interested parties should contact info@optionsCA.com.
Go to www.OptionsCA.com and sign the petition to change California's last call time to 4 AM if you agree.
