MR. C BEVERLY HILLS
AN OLD SCHOOL CLASSIC GETAWAY

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s something very relaxing and comforting about spending time in a hotel, even if it’s a local one.  Dining and drinking at a posh hotel bar and/or chic restaurant offers the sensation of getting away without really getting away.  And that’s exactly how I felt during my recent visit to Mr. C Beverly Hills.

While not located in the heart of Beverly Hills, Mr. C is tucked away on the outskirts of town along busy Pico Boulevard. Part of the Remington Hotels portfolio, Mr. C Beverly Hills basks in the timeless glamour of Beverly Hills while offering European comfort with modern amenities, elegant service and personalized experiences by the fourth generation Cipriani family, internationally renowned for their restaurants, innovative event spaces, nightlife and residences.

Walk into the posh lobby and you’re immediately transported to vacation mode. The lobby bar just screams cool cocktails. And The Restaurant at Mr. C shines with that old school Hollywood vibe, offering traditional Cipriani dishes like Carpaccio and baked tagliolini to grilled specialties, artisan pizzas and garden-fresh salads. Rounding out this timeless experience is a cocktail menu featuring traditional drinks such as the original Bellini and newcomers like the refreshing mandarin-based Mr. C.

While I tend to like my cocktails on the stiff side, I had to start my visit with the classic Bellini—served for the first time in 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy. This simple combination of peach puree (from peaches flown in from Europe) and Mr. C Prosecco is a delightful day drink. In fact, all hotel guests are offered a complimentary Bellini during their stay.

If you want to continue enjoying those lovely and easy-going good vibrations, opt for a Mr. C Cocktail, a pleasant mix of fresh mandarin, lemon juice, vodka and Mr. C Prosecco. This is another easy to drink libation that will ease you into bliss.

For fans of drinks on the boozier side, get to know Señor Masaryk. Served for the first time in Cipriani Mexico City, this combination of Patron Silver, grapefruit juice, lime juice and cinnamon syrup is reminiscent of a Paloma but the use of cinnamon syrup gives it a wholly original taste. You will be hard pressed to stop at just one.

A classic bar like this is just the setting for a Bloody Mary or Martini. And you will not be disappointed if you feel so inclined. The bulk of the cocktail menu features classics such as a Barrel Aged Negroni to a Manhattan, Planter’s Punch, Cosmopolitan, Rob Roy, Whiskey Sour and Daquiri. Cheers!

And if you’re drinking at Mr. C then you’ll want to be dining at Mr. C.  where dishes such as the Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes and Basil, Calamari Fritti served with Tartar Sauce, and the Beef Carpaccio alla Cipriani will absolutely delight.

For main course selections, we loved the Veal Piccatine al Limone served with Rice Pilaf as well as the Tagliardi with Black Truffle. The eats can be pricey but this is the perfect location to indulge and treat yourself right. And speaking of treating yourself right, definitely enjoy a slice of the decadently delicious Vanilla Meringue layer cake. It is out-of-this-world good.

The restaurant as well as the lobby bar are cozy and elegant and perfect for a long, relaxed experience. Outdoor seating is also available for dinner and drinks offering an ideal al fresco escape.

Mr. C Beverly Hills is located at 1224 Beverwill Drive. Call (310) 277-2800.
