LAWRY’S THE PRIME RIB
NOW OFFERING WEEKEND BRUNCH

When it comes a celebratory dinner, few places can beat out Lawry’s The Prime Rib, beloved for its generous and tasty prime rib. For me, the Beverly Hills location on La Cienega Boulevard is a great go-to spot to celebrate the holidays, my birthday or any other special occasion. And now, it’s also a destination for weekend brunch.

Live music complements the decadent brunch menu featuring dishes like Prime Rib Hash & Sunny Side Up Fried Eggs, Yorkshire Eggs Benedict, and Brioche French Toast with caramelized apples. The live entertainment changes from week to week and feature local artists performing a variety of musical genres from jazz to Top 40, to R&B. Guests also have the opportunity to make requests to hear their favorite songs.

And of course, it isn’t brunch without libations, so don’t forget about Lawry’s Mimosa Bar, the Lawry’s Signature Bloody Mary (with jumbo blackened shrimp garnish), as well as the Berry Lemon Drop.  Brunch without booze is just a late breakfast or an early lunch.

While you can still order the classic Lawry’s prime rib dinner, I think brunch options like the aforementioned Prime Rib Hash, Yorkshire Eggs Benedict, and Brioche French Toast are the way to go.

During our recent visit for weekend brunch, we, of course, started with cocktails and the Bloody Mary seemed like the best way to start. Prepared with Wheatley Vodka, homemade Bloody Mary mix, Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, lime, and two jumbo blackened shrimps for garnish, this really got my day going. It’s almost a tasty meal on its own.

If you’re looking for a lighter libation, you can opt for the Berry Lemon Drop made with Stoli Razberi Vodka, muddled raspberries and lemon juice with a sugar rim. This drink is too sweet for me but if you don’t want a cocktail with too much bite, this may be the way to gently start your day (and possibly day drinking experience).

We started our brunch bonanza with an order of delicious crab cakes. Hearty and heavenly, they were a perfect sharable starter. All brunch entrees include Lawry’s famous spinning bowl salad, which is always a favorite of mine. For an additional $5 you can upgrade to Lobster Bisque (a $14 item on the brunch menu) but we stuck with the tried and true salad.

I highly recommend the Yorkshire Eggs Benedict with shaved prime rib, horseradish hollandaise, poached eggs, and chives. The presentation is definitely Instagram worthy and it’s just so damn tasty. It really gives you that prime ride and Yorkshire bread pudding fix that comes with the classic prime rib dinner. Let me tell you, this dish delivers. Thanks to the massive Yorkshire bread pudding (think oversized roll), this dish is very filling.

Another standout is the Prime Rib Hash & Sunny Side Up Fried Eggs with slow-cooked prime rib, potatoes, red peppers, and scallions. I love hash and eggs so it was hard to pass up prime rib hash. While the Salmon Rockefeller and the Prime Rib Sandwich were tempting, we were satisfied with our choices.

Consider the Brioche French Toast & Caramelized Apples with Vanilla Cream as a dessert option. We shared it and loved it. Pro-tip, substitute the vanilla cream for vanilla ice cream and you won’t be disappointed. This way it really felt like dynamite day time dessert.

While the brunch cocktail menu isn’t very vast, you can still order from Lawry’s signature cocktails, which include some ideal day drinking choices like the Mango Mai Tai (with fresh mango), Caribbean Blue Margarita, and Sidecar with a sweet sugar rim. Of course, you can always opt for the classic Lawry’s Meat & Potato Martini and throw caution to the wind and just make it a real boozy brunch (truth be told—that’s what I did).

Outdoor dining is currently an option or you can choose to eat inside and enjoy the swanky setting if you feel comfortable to do so. The live entertainment complimented the setting and never dominated the experience. We felt safe inside and relished our Lawry’s boozy brunch. I can’t wait to go back.

Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills is located at 100 N. La Cienega Blvd. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am to 2pm. Call (310) 652-2827.
