12 MONTHS OF ‘MAYA-ACHIS’

With triumphant trumpets, giant guitars and velvet voices, some of Southern California’s most exciting and popular mariachi bands will be spicing up Sunday Brunch at Hotel Maya in 2019. The all-new, yearlong program, Hotel Maya’s 12 Months of “Maya-Achis” will be held in Fuego, the modern, Latin infused indoor-outdoor restaurant and lounge that offers a unique seaside setting and stunning open-air views of the Pacific Ocean, Long Beach skyline and Queen Mary. Fuego is also known for its handcrafted margaritas and one of the region’s largest tequila selections.

Mariachis Los Reyes who have recorded with Lady Gaga will kick off the monthly mariachi brunches on Sunday, January 13. The charismatic and engaging nine-member band has also performed with Latin music superstars such as Jennie Rivera and Espinoza Paz. Film and TV credits include A Thousand Words with Eddie Murphy, About A Boy on NBC, and New Girl on FOX.

Later in the year, the Mayan themed hotel will host the world’s first and only all-LGBT mariachis, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles for Long Beach LGBT Pride on May 19; Aurelio Reyes "El Gallo de Chiapas" for Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15; and the Grammy-winning, all-female Mariachi Divas de Cindy Sheato mark National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 20.

Hotel Maya’s 12 Months of “Maya-Achis” Sunday brunches in Fuego will also mark special occasions throughout the year such as Valentine’s Day and Christmas, among others. Performances will be held from 11 am to 2 pm on January 13, February 17, March 17, April 7, May 19, June 23, July 21, August 18, September 15, October 20, November 17 and December 15. Dates and mariachi bands are subject to change.

Fuego Sunday Brunch begins with a refreshing complimentary drink of House Champagne or Mimosa. Next guests select an entrée from the server, including Fuego Eggs Benedict, Pandulce French Toast, Steak Tampiqueno, Chilaquiles, Achiote Mojo Salmon, Citrus Braised Pork Carnitas, Ropa Vieja or Plantain Crusted Sea Bass. Then indulge in an endless feast of Chef’s Selection of Salads, Fuego Ceviches, Fuego Taco Station and delicious Desserts. Fuego Sunday Brunch is $45 for adults and $18.50, sans entree, for children under 12. Kids 3 and under feast for free.

Fuego is a modern, Latin infused dining and lounge experience in a unique indoor-outdoor setting at the water’s edge. Fuego restaurant is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm and Fuego lounge is open daily at 11 am to midnight.
