HEALTH NUT
A HEALTH OBESSED KARDASHIAN FAVORITE

It’s always great when a restaurant has steady regulars—loyal customers. So I can only imagine that it must be a restaurant owner’s dream come true when some of your regulars happen to be world famous. In the case of Health Nut, a popular San Fernando Valley salad and sandwich shop, their faithful regulars happen to be the Kardashians who love to eat Health Nut salads on camera.

Health Nut is a family-owned fast casual healthy hot spot serving oversized salads to sandwiches to wraps and noodle dishes, as well as smoothies and refreshing homemade drinks.

What started out as a vitamin and supplement store in 1988 eventually morphed into a vitamin shop with a tiny deli counter and three tables into a healthy-oriented restaurant no longer selling vitamins. Now it’s all about serving high quality healthy eats.

The most popular dish is the Noodlerama with Asian rice noodles, shredded chicken breast, carrots, cucumber, and pickled ginger on romaine and iceberg lettuce served with spicy Asian dressed.

Kim Kardashian’s favorite is the Chinese Chicken Salad with shredded chicken breast, Chow Mein noodles, pickled ginger, and carrots served with sesame dressing. Another popular menu item is the Deluxe Salad with Tuna, prepared with shredded mozzarella, tomatoes, and sprouts. The Salmon Poke Bowl is a new favorite and the Mango Iced Greentini with freshly brewed mango green tea, honey and a dash of cane sugar is a beverage must-have.

At Health Nut, the portions are generous and so much is made in-house—from brewing their own mango green tea to making their own popular dressings to hand tearing their lettuce to cooking their chicken with no butter, fat or oil.

“Our produce is delivered daily to ensure the highest quality and freshest ingredients are used,” says owner Steve Choi. “We also offer many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options to choose from.”

It’s the Health Nut dressings that add so many flavors to numerous menu dishes. The five homemade dressings are Original House, Spicy Asian, Sesame, Low Cal (no oil), and Low Fat Ranch. All of which can be purchased in person or online.

What started as a single mom and pop shop in Woodland Hills so many years ago now includes a new store in Sherman Oaks. Just like the Kardashians, Health Nut is branding and expanding making it easy to indulge and enjoy tasty, heathy cuisine.

Health Nut is located at 23365 Mulholland Drive in Woodland Hills and 4550 Van Nuys Blvd in Sherman Oaks. Open Monday through Saturday.
