FRIDA MEXICAN CUISINE
SUNDAY MARIACHI BRUNCH BUFFET BONANZA

There’s something so pleasing and relaxing about a long and lazy Sunday brunch. It’s just the ultimate in “me time” pleasure possible. Add to the experience a bottomless bar and a boffo buffet and, well, you found the perfect way to cap off your week or start it, depending on your outlook. And the Sunday mariachi brunch buffet at Frida Mexican Cuisine is one of my favorite options to choose from.

Every Sunday from 10:30 am to 3 pm, Frida Mexican Cuisine in Torrance, Cerritos and Sherman Oaks offers a buffet bonanza featuring a variable plethora of Mexican cuisine and non-alcoholic beverages, including café de la olla, orange juice, and agua frescas, to delight and satisfy. For an additional $15 you can enjoy bottomless mimosas for up to two hours—otherwise mimosas, sangrias, margaritas and beers cost $5 a pop.

During our recent visit to the Sherman Oaks’ Frida for Sunday brunch, we took in the lively atmosphere, which included a clown and complimentary balloon art and face painting for kids, and ordered a margarita as we prepared to indulge in a bountiful brunch. Stations throughout the restaurant included parrillada (barbeque); tacos and mini sopes; omelet bar; pancakes; and traditional Mexican fare such as ceviche, menudo, pozole, enchiladas, and mole. And let’s not forget the dessert station with a delectable chocolate fountain, as well as pastel de tres leches; flan; churros; arroz con leche; and chocolate chip cookies.

There’s also live entertainment in the form of a mariachi band that performs throughout brunch. It does get a loud but just chalk it up to a fun and festive setting. Brunch at Frida is perfect for a large party or celebration.

It’s easy to fill up right away on a hefty made-to-order omelet or a stack of pancakes stuffed with whatever you want (blueberries, walnuts or candy) but take your time and pace yourself and enjoy all that Frida has to offer. Remember, the best kind of boozy brunch is a long and lazy boozy brunch—so enjoy the ride.

Reservations are highly recommended for Sunday brunch. Brunch for adults is $22.95 and $12.95 for kids ages 6-12 is. For anyone who would rather order off the regular menu, that option is available beginning at 1 pm on Sundays.

Frida Mexican Cuisine is located in Beverly Hills, Westwood, Torrance, Cerritos and Sherman Oaks. Click here for a list of locations.
