Our good friends at Fat Sal’s are at again. Never ones to be satisfied with a simple or ordinary sandwich, they definitely believe bigger is better and simple sucks.
Their newest and perhaps craziest creation is aptly called the Fat Fuhgettaboutit and it’s a doozy. This sandwich, no, pizza sandwich, consists of a bacon cheeseburger, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, ranch dressing all on a slice of cheese pizza!
Billed as the pizza sandwich to end all sandwiches, it’s pretty unbelievable to look at and digest. It almost feels more like a food challenge than a meal. Some people I talked to about this foodie freak show were completely put off but I had to try it for myself nonetheless. And I have to admit that it’s damn tasty but you have to eat it quick because as soon as it gets cold, especially the cheeseburger, it starts to lose its appeal.
Personally, I could do without the ranch dressing, or at least less of it or have it come on the side but I’m not really complaining over here. And at $11.99, this limited menu special is quite the over indulgent deal.
I have to confess that I couldn’t finish the Fat Fuhgettaboutit. Close but no cigar. My buddy managed to conquer the bad boy burger-pizza-sandwich but it was an almost painful chore. And when he finished there was only one word he could muster, “Full.”
I think the Fat Sal’s guys have outdone themselves this time. I’m not saying this is their best or tastiest creation, but I think it is their most creative and crazy concoction. A definite diet-buster and a meal no doctor would ever sign off on, it’s a meal you won’t so forget although according to Fat Sal’s co-owner Josh Stone, “you finish it and then fuhgettaboutit.”
