AN ELEVATED NEW AGE DINER

Dining inside an L.A. mall just became a thing to do thanks to celebrity restaurateur Jeremy Fall’s Easy’s inside Beverly Center.  Think new age diner offering high-end culinary eats with an expanded food, drink, and cocktail menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This is the fifth restaurant for the J. Fall Group; additional concepts in Los Angeles include Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar in Venice; Tinfoil in Highland Park; and Paperboy Pizza on the Santa Monica Promenade.

Easy’s is located on the sixth floor of the Beverly Center and offers a 20-seat counter as well as a 90-seat adjacent "patio" with a wide view of the city.

“The constant goal through each of our concepts is to put a new twist on simple comfort food, from breakfast to deli sandwiches,” says Jeremy Fall. “We live in an era where storytelling has become everyone's M.O. and dining is a huge part of our lives. I'm a believer that a unique experience doesn't have to necessarily be expensive and over the top, so I want to give people something different to talk about without the high price tag. I've always wanted to open a new age version of the classic diner and grew up in Los Angeles going to Beverly Center as a teenager, so this project has been very close to my heart."

Easy’s menu offers elevated versions of old-school diner fare, from entrees, to classic salads, to sandwiches, as well as all-day breakfast dishes. Signature menu items include Duck Parmesan, and Fried Chicken N’ Funnel Cake. Easy’s also offers a full cocktail menu featuring playful takes on classics like a Kimchi-Five Spice Bloody Mary, a Cold Fashioned (cold brew Old Fashioned) and Kool Aid & rum cocktail on tap.

For light fare, the Calipasta with rice noodles, yellow squash, tofu avocado cream, zucchini, shitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers is a solid choice, as is the Cucumber & Lox served with sourdough toast, cucumber, sweet tahini, sprouts, smoked salmon, mint crème fraiche, and pickled avocado. Likewise, the 3rd Street Corn with corn off the cobb, red onion, smoked paprika, queso Cotija, garlic, fried cilantro, and ancho cream is a solid side item, as is the Sriracha Tuna Salad with tomato, cucumber, green leaf, fried wonton, and saffron black garlic vinaigrette.

Menu favorites include the Pork Belly Benedict with maple braised pork belly, pesto, maple butter, BBQ hollandaise, poached eggs, and English muffin, as well as the Fried Chicken & Funnel Cake with buffalo fried chicken, maple cinnamon funnel cake, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. Neither disappoint and both are must-have dishes for fans of breakfast no matter the time of day.

And don’t forget the cocktails as the drink menu here is a fun one. “Canned” cocktails include the Kentucky Mule, and Italian Cola with Fernet Branca, and Easyhound with vodka and Pellegrino. The presentation on all of these is nice and Instagram worthy.

The Kimchi Bloody Mary with house-made Bloody Mary mix, kimchi, Chinese five-spice, and shino leaves is a great boozy brunch offering. And great breakfast drink is the Cereal Fashioned with Raisin Bran-infused bourbon, bitters, and cinnamon brown sugar. Other favorites include the Squirt with gin and Stiegl grapefruit radler, and the Penicilina with reposado tequila, mezcal, lemon-lime juice, and habanero-ginger syrup.

Hearty menu items include the On the Lamb Burger with ground lamb, goat cheese, garlic ketchup, pickled fennel, spicy slaw, tzatziki mayo, served on a bun. Another solid choice is the FCBLT with herb fried chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, black garlic, and ranch on a brioche bun.

Desserts are solid and fun, and I’ll include the Donut Crumb French Toast as a solid option. Prepared with egg dipped Texas toast, maple syrup, coffee dust, cinnamon donut crumbs, and whipped cream it’s a sweet winner. And consider the Funnel Cake with Thrifty Ice Cream a real treat.

Just like Nighthawk, a terrific breakfast bar, Easy’s offers all the comforts of breakfast, lunch and dinner, including cocktails. Shopping at a mall has never been this fun. Now it’s boozy brunch and beyond all day long.
