DOS HOMBRES
‘BREAKING BAD’ STARS GO FROM METH TO MEZCAL
One of the most badass TV shows of the last decade was easily Breaking Bad. And in the show nobody cooked better meth than Mr. White and Jesse Pinkman. Now that dynamic duo of actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are teaming up again, only this time they’re crafting mezcal in real life.
Together, they have launched Dos Hombres artisanal mezcal—now available in California, New York and online.
Dos Hombres is the product of multiple generations of proud Mezcal producers from the small village of San Luis del Rio, in a remote section of Oaxaca. With the blessing of the rich soil and adequate rainfall, the best agaves in the world are cultivated.
The mezcal is made from espadin agave that is at least six years old. Once harvested, that agave is cooked underground for four days so that all the natural sugars will be released. It is then mashed via stone wheel and then the liquid is fermented for seven to 10 days before it is distilled.
The final product is an easygoing mezcal that's full of fruit notes—think apple, mango and pineapple—plus mild wood with just a hint of smoke. It is mezcal after all. It's smooth enough to drink neat or works well in a cocktail.
A bottle of Dos Hombres Tequila is priced at roughly $60.
