BREAKFAST AT THE RAYMOND RESTAURANT

Walking into The Raymond Restaurant, Pasadena’s lovely eatery and a charming example of the city’s colourful past, feels like a visit home. Built on the site of the former caretaker’s cottage of the once grand Raymond Hotel where entrepreneur Walter Raymond would entertain the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Tom Mix, and Buster Keaton, the cozy and elegant Raymond is the perfect place to relax, indulge and be pampered.

With beautiful outdoor patios and a rustic and sophisticated looking interior dining room, as well as the impressive Bar 1886 setting, you have the choice of where to drink and dine on first rate cocktails and cuisine.

During our recent visit to The Raymond, we opted to start our day off right with breakfast, forget about pretentious brunch, this is good old fashioned home cooked breakfast served from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Offering excellent and meticulous service, strong French press coffee was exactly what the doctor ordered to help the recovery process from a late Friday night.

Recommended starters include the delicious Caramelized Grapefruit, the Warm Blueberry Muffin with Whipped Honey Butter, or the Warm and Crispy Golden Apple Fritters, just to name a few. We shared the fantastic Quiche, prepared as a Chef's daily selection, which means the type of quiche changes constantly. Served with a light green salad and fresh fruit, this is a wonderful way to start the day.

But we weren’t done just yet, the Eggs Your Way breakfast, served with two eggs any style with grilled English bangers or applewood smoked bacon, also proved to be a light yet hearty selection.

But hungry breakfast people listen up, as the Huevos Montuleños is a top pick. Served with white corn, black beans and salsa on a crisp tortilla with a poached egg on top, this is home cooked comfort food done right. It’s a very fresh, light dish that hits the spot.

And if you find that you need a little extra pick-me-up at breakfast, the Tres Leches Ice Coffee with a shot of tequila hits the spot. Refreshing and tasty, it offers just the right buzz to make sure you’re energized for the rest of your day.
