THE MINT
GOOD EATS WITH A SIDE OF LIVE MUSIC

A live music venue since 1937, The Mint is truly a jewel among live music venues around town. Always booking exciting and eclectic shows, the club also offers quality eats to go with your night of live music.

We headed down on Friday for a night of vibrant world music and tasty treats. We started with the Taquitos Dorado, a personal favorite of our waitress, that came with four homemade tortillas with chicken rolled and fried to perfection served with guacamole and sour cream. In L.A., that’s as good as comfort food gets. The Garlic Parsely Fries proved to be addicting in that bet-you-can’t-have-just-one fashion.

The Vegetable Napoleon, layers of roasted tomato, Portobello, zucchini, eggplant, bell pepper and goat cheese topped with balsamic reduction, is a first-rate dish. Here’s where the kitchen really made a statement - great presentation, good, healthy fair, and a delicious taste. You don’t have to feel guilty about ordering this if you want to maintain some order in your diet.

For the entrees we went with 2 Blackened Fish Tacos that proved to be light and flaky. But again, they really excelled with the healthier options, as I loved my Grilled Salmon with Mango Chutney. Served with saffron rice and grilled asparagus, kudos to The Mint for going beyond the standard selections most live venues offer throughout the city.

Be aware there is a requirement of 2 drinks or 1 food item per person for dining room seating but do yourself a favor and make a night of it and have dinner. Take my word, if you opt for the healthier choices on the menu, you will not be losing out one bit on taste.

The Mint is located at 6010 West Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035. Call 323-954-9400.

Check out the March calendar of events here.
