BOMBAY PALACE
OFFERS KNOCKOUT BUFFET

Beverly Hills’ Bombay Palace calls itself the ‘gateway to superb Indian cuisine.’ While I can’t attest to its full dining menu, its buffet does offers quality Indian food for a reasonable price, especially on Sundays.

Monday thru Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet goes for $14 per person. On Sundays, from noon to 3 p.m., the buffet, which also includes unlimited mimosas—a real treat—, goes for $20 per person.

Buffet selections include favorite items such as Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lentil Soup, Aloo Gobi Masala (with cauliflower), and Palak Paneer—an Indian and Pakistani dish consisting of spinach and paneer (Indian farmer's cheese) in a thick curry, as well as your choice of naan bread, along with Rice Pudding, and Galub Jamun (a tasty Indian version of warm donuts floating in warm sweet syrup) for dessert.

Impressively, there are plenty of meat and vegetable dishes to choose from. And while the food is not at all spicy, probably to cater to as big an audience as possible, it is still savory nonetheless. I found the service to be adequate. It’s a relaxed atmosphere at lunch / brunch so no one is running around being extremely attentive, but they did a decent job of constantly refilling our yummy mimosas.

While you may find better Indian food farther away around town, think Pasadena, or similar-minded buffets, the Sunday brunch at Bombay Palace for anyone in the Beverly Hills area is a great deal just for the mimosas alone. Most restaurants nowadays charge an additional $15 for unlimited mimosas, here, for $20 total you get fresh fare and all you can drink mimosas.

Bombay Palace is located at 8690 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills. Hours: Monday-Friday lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner: Monday-Thursday: 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Closed Saturday. Call 310-659-9944. Reservations recommended.
