THE ROOF ON WILSHIRE
ROOFTOP HANGOUT OFFERS
KILLER VIEWS & SAVORY BITES

The brand new Roof on Wilshire is just what the Miracle Mile, home to LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits, needed, a cool space to hangout that offers a killer city view, potent drinks and sensational bites.

Located on the roof of the swanky Hotel Wilshire, the restaurant, with its stunning 360-degree views spanning the L.A. skyline, serves cuisine crafted by Celebrity Chef Eric Greenspan. Describing his menu as "Bold American," Greenspan’s take on classic comfort foods is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A two-elevator ride to the Roof on Wilshire, the wrap-around views are stunning. And while the décor isn’t overwhelming, in fact, its all white concrete and yellow furniture accentuate the rooftop pool area. There's also a cozy and charming interior bar and dining area with sliding glass doors. Cabanas line one side, lounge chairs on the other, as a shallow pool sits in the middle of the rooftop. Move all the way to the rear of the roof and there’s an intimate lower level with its own fire pit and sofa area.

Looking for a cocktail, I dare say the Roof on Wilshire offers the tastiest Bloody Mary in town, known here as the Zeitgeist Bloody. The Vallon, with Irish whiskey, bitters, sugar and slice of orange rind, is the Roof’s take on an Old Fashioned. Another favorite is the Bourbon Smash made with Bourbon, fresh lemon juice, honey and raspberries. And if you’re looking for just one drink to do the trick, the Integral Margarita, made with Reposado tequila, orange liquor, fresh lemon, lime, orange juice, smoked sea salt, and kosher salt will do the trick. While $18 is a steep price to pay for a margarita, this one is enormous. Drink more than one and make sure you book a room for the night.

Visiting for breakfast or brunch, Greenspan’s famous Pancake Lasagna is a must. With tasty layers of pancake, eggs, sausage and cheese along with maple syrup, this plate is a definite favorite. The Egg Sandwich with soft scrambled eggs, tomato, avocado and cheddar cheese, as well as the Stuffed French Toast, with date marmalade and maple cream cheese, are also come highly recommended, but lets be honest, it’s all about the Pancake Lasagna.

If you’re stopping by for lunch, the Spinach Salad with poached egg, bacon and lemon vinaigrette is a good selection, as is The Wilshire Salad with greens, avocado, plums, candied nuts, and goat cheese. Looking for something a little heartier, the Reuben, with house-made corned beef, Swiss cheese and house kraut is wonderful. Looking for something on the healthy side, the Vegetable Sandwich is made with seasonal vegetables, roasted peppers, hummus, baby spinach, burrata on ciabatta. Another favorite is the Wilshire Grilled Cheese with Gruyere, date marmalade, and roasted peppers on sourdough.

If you find yourself at The Roof for dinner, the Absinthe Steamed Mussels Fennel is a perfect starter item to share, as are the Mushroom Apple Risotto Balls. The Crispy Skin Salmon is a refreshing and guilt free entrée, while the Filet of Beef is a filling and mouthwatering dish.

There's also a separate bar menu offering wonderful bites like the tasty Tuna Crudo with shiso, avocado and marinated salmon roe, topped with some nori rice crisps; Caramelized Onion and Frisee Tart; Nori Nachos; Fried Calamari, "Baked Potato" Fries; and Sticky Spicy Wings, all under $10.
