GOURMET SAUSAGES & TASTY BREWS FINALLY ON THE WESTSIDE
Just what the Westside has been clamoring for, its very own awesome beer hall and gourmet sausage place. And it looks like it finally has it in BRÜ Haus.
Two years ago, Wurstküche tapped into something special by serving sausages with beers that propelled it to the top of the L.A. foodie scene sending hipsters and beer lovers to downtown to get their fill of sensational gourmet sausages and a slew of wonderful beers. Now, the Westside has its own place to call home. Where Steingarten L.A. missed the mark overcharging for its beers and food, BRÜ Haus hit the bull’s-eye by offering happy hour from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., as well as for its excellent selection of European beers and full bar, including the phenomenal Fortaleza tequila! But with nearly 30 beers on tap, is it really necessary to include the likes of Bud Lite and Coors Lite?
From its Traditional menu (at $6.50 a pop), you can order Bockwurst, Creole Turkey, Paesano Spicy Italian, Vegan Mexican Chipotle, and Vegan Smoked Apple Sage - there’s something for everyone to choose from. And if you’re looking for something a little more daring, the Premium menu (at $8 a dog) offers Duck & Foie Gras, Tequila Habanero Chicken, Alligator & Pork Andouille, Duck & Bacon, and American Knockwurst.
Other wonderful and unique menu items include Sweet Potater Tots, and a Giant Bavarian Pretzel. They’re a must-have and are perfect for sharing. What better food to pair fine tasting beers with?
During our recent visit, the pairing of the Malheur 12 from Belgium with the Duck & Fois Gras sausage is a must order, as is the Tripel Karmeliet, also from Belgium, with funny enough the Vegan Smoked Apple sausage. While the vegan sausage is a great alternative for anyone looking to avoid meat, the beer really helped bring forth a wonderful taste that just paired perfectly.
Other beers we found to be our new favorites include the Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock, Maredscous 6 (Blonde), Blache de Bruxelles, and the Ommegang Rare Vos. For anyone who does not want to trek to downtown for good eats and beers, now you don’t have to. On weekend nights BRÜ Haus does take on a club vibe, but you would expect that being sandwiched between Cabo Cantina and Q's in the Westwood area.
BRÜ Haus is located at 11831 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025. Hours: Mon-Wed 11 a.m. - 12 a.m.; Thu-Sat 11 a.m. - 2 a.m.; Sun 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Call 310-473-2337.
