JOE’S LAS VEGAS
JACKPOT WINNER FOR STEAKS & SEAFOOD

For nearly 100 years, Joe’s Stone Crab has been a Miami institution of fine dining. With a location in Chicago since 2000, Joe's Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab opened in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace in 2004, offering fine diners out west the opportunity to indulge in a most memorable meal.

Featuring prime bone-in steaks, an extensive selection of jet-fresh seafood and delicious Florida Stone Crabs, Joe’s Las Vegas has continued the rich legacy that began in Miami Beach 98 years ago.

During a recent visit, we were treated to first-class service and top notch eats. The food at Joe’s isn’t cheap and I was happy that the staff does its best to make sure your experience is an extremely pleasurable one.

During our first-ever visit we had to go with an order of Stone Crabs, it is what they’re named after. Fresh stone crabs are found in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. They are hand harvested, one claw at a time. Joe’s Stone Crab founders Joe Weiss, and his wife Jennie, discovered this unknown delicacy in the early 1920s, and soon after, began serving them in their restaurant in South Miami Beach. Now, the familiar "crack-crack-crack" is a must-have item in both the Las Vegas and Chicago restaurants. Paired with a white wine, this obvious selection did not disappoint.

We also went with the Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Legs, which was probably overkill on our part but it was so good it didn’t matter. Not a cheap item, it was tasty and one of those over indulgent Vegas moments. It also was wonderfully paired with a glass of white wine.

We next split a Caesar Salad and the B.L.T. Wedge. The Caesar was standard but the B.L.T. was hearty and proved to be a winner. For appetizers we went with Joe’s Grilled Tomatoes, and excellent choice, and the tasty Pan Roasted Sweet Corn, prepared cream style or pan roasted. Both portions proved large enough to share.

But our favorite starter item was the off-the-menu Big Daddy Taters recommended by our waiter. This jumbo-sized hash brown plate is topped with bacon and cheese. Sure, it’s a heart attack waiting to happen, but what a way to go. It’s a must-have item to share with the whole table.

We split our entrees, which meant we could order and eat more. The Chilean Seabass with Miso Glaze and Bok Choy was a wonderfully light and refreshing selection, as was the Wild Alaskan Salmon. After the hearty Taters we welcomed the lighter fare. We were skeptical of the Giant Shrimp but they more than lived up to their name. Wow! The shrimps were huge and delicious. Definitely plenty for one person, but believe me, the whole table was happy we were able to share.

Never knowing when to say ‘enough,’ we went crazy with dessert and tried the Key Lime Pie, which is an acquired taste and this one was very savory, as well as the tasty Blueberry Pie, the fabulous Havana Dream Pie, and the Banana Cream Pie with Foster Sauce. We probably would have been better off splitting just one pie slice but why stop and be sensible so late in the meal?
