HEIRLOOM L.A. LAUNCHES IMPRESSIVE FOOD TRUCK

The folks at Heirloom L.A., a two-year-old Los Angeles based catering company that loves all things food and food related, have just launched an extremely impressive food truck.

Famous for their out-of-this-world lasagna cupcakes, Heirloom L.A. is genuinely serving food beyond what most other food trucks are doing.

“Our idea is to have less of a set menu and more of a whatever we can come up with menu,” founded Matthew Poley explained. “We’re a catering company, first and foremost, and when people see the truck, they’ll trust that the food will be fresh and they’ll be excited to come to the truck under the impression that they’re going to have something different than the last time.”

During our recent visit to the Heirloom L.A. truck, parked outside Bar Covell in Los Feliz, we went to town sampling all the delicious fare prepared that night. We started with a hearty Beluga Lentil Soup with Root Vegetables and Charred Spring Onions, followed by a perfect and fresh Beet Salad with English Peas, Goat Cheese and Beet Vinaigrette.

For our entrees we opted for two hearty pasta dishes, the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, and the Ricottta Cavatelli with Wild Boar Bolognese and Bake Ricotta, which was phenomenal. And we just had to go for the mouthwatering Niman Ranch Braised Brisket in Red Wine. Delicious! Consider this a must-have item if you find it during your visit.

And since no stop to the Heirloom L.A. food truck is complete without feasting on their fabulous Lasagna Cupcakes, which this night included a Colorado Lamb and Fresh Mozzarella cupcake that was to-die for, and a Pumpkin Brown Butter Sage Maple cupcake, you just have to go for the gusto. These unique items are incredibly tasty and will have you going back for more…guaranteed.

The brainchild of chefs Matthew Poley and Tara Maxey, the Heirloom L.A. truck is exclusively powered by Windows Phone and will provide updated locations, menus and photo/video to their fans via the software’s application and social media features. Preparing delicious food prepared “farm-to-street,” Poley and Maxey say they “cook with love and cook with conscience.”

"The intuitive ease of Windows Phone allows us to engage our customers on-the-go, while also making it easy to organize our business so we can focus on what we love: making amazing food for amazing people," Poley said. "From the social media apps to Microsoft Office, this phone is changing the way we do business."

While Poley doesn’t plan to have a set menu aboard his food truck, the plan is to serve a rotating, farm fresh menu that can include halibut tacos one week, to pork belly tacos or a cooked pork leg the next. Either way, you can trust that you’ll be eating something fresh, organic and tasty.

You can find the Heirloom L.A. truck Sundays for brunch in front of Covell Bar; Monday nights at Silverlake Wine; and Wednesday nights at the Yamashiro Farmers’ Market. And do make note that you can buy Lasagna Cupcakes at the Silverlake Lounge, at Cookbook in Echo Park, and The Village Gourmet in Toluca Lake.
