Foodie Fave:

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
800 W. Olympic Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90015
(213) 745-9911

Downtown Los Angeles has really turned into quite the cool place to hangout and now with the addition of Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar at LA LIVE, there’s a first rate place for fine dining walking distance to whatever it is you’ll be doing. Whether you’re making a night out of it attending an event at Staples Center or one of clubs at LA LIVE, if you want a quality steak and a good drink then Fleming’s is your destination.

I went on a Wednesday night for a 7PM dinner before an event at the Convention Center and found Fleming’s packed. Those heading to the Kings’ game at Staples were finishing, and anyone attending a concert or another downtown event were just arriving.

Greeted and waited with courtesy and respect, you’re first class night out experience begins as soon as you enter. Seated in the expansive dining room, a whole crew of waiters, each with their own specific job, really takes pride in their job and offers top-notch service.

Starting off with a stiff Jameson on the rocks, we began with the tangy sweet chili calamari. Next was a satisfying Caesar salad as a different waiter came by offering a frigid fork. We opted for the main filet mignon, and the prime bone-in ribeye as our entrees with sautéed spinach and sautéed mushrooms as our sides. Bordelaise, Wellington, and au poivre sauces accompanied the meat. Both orders were juicy, tender and savory.

We decided to switch to wine since we were in a wine bar after all and ordered the red sample serving which offers a wide selection of different wines. I let the waiter choose as he was really on top of things and his tasty selections did not disappoint.

We split the chocolate lave cake for dessert. Prepared with a rich chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center, served with vanilla ice cream and chopped pistachios it was decadent and delicious!

Fleming’s has recently introduced its 5 For $6 ’Til 7 menu which is perfect for anyone attending a game at Staples Center. You get your choice of 5 cocktails (White Cosmo with Ketel One Vodka, Appletini with Grey Goose Vodka, Fleming’s Classic with Ketel One, Margatini with Gran Centenario Anejo Tequila, and Tropical Martini with Malibu Coconut Rum), 5 wines by the glass, and 5 appetizers, including sweet chili calamari, wicked Cajun barbeque shrimp, seared ahi tuna, and jumbo lump crab cakes, as well as the new Fleming’s prime burger all for $6 until 7PM.

A perfect place to impress or to just treat yourself, Fleming’s will be taking care of sweethearts over Valentine’s with its Valentine’s Weekend Sharing Menu offering special menu items specifically designed for two. They’ll also be unveiling the Valentini, a Bellini-inspired cocktail with Belvedere Vodka, Peach Schnapps, fresh peaches, and fresh lemon juice topped with Chandon Brut Rosé for $9.95 a glass.

And take advantage of their Winter Prix Fixe Menu that runs through March 29. You can’t go wrong. Bon appétit.

Hours of Operation: Lunch: Monday-Friday 11:30 AM - 2 PM; Dinner: Sunday-Thursday 5 PM - 10 PM, Friday & Saturday 5 PM - 12 AM.
