BISTROTEK AT CUSTOM HOTEL
FIRST RATE RELAXED & CONTEMPORARY DINING

A true dining gem at the Custom Hotel located near LAX, Bistrotek offers refined and relaxed contemporary cuisine. Hip yet unassuming, the full-service American bistro serving California-fresh fare is open for breakfast and dinner and is a welcome refuge for travelers but a wonderful new dining haven for locals.

There’s something really cool about a night out at a hotel, even when you’re a local yourself. Maybe it’s the feeling that you’re on vacation too, or that we associate the standards of a posh or hip boutique hotel or resort to be higher than the standard brick and mortar eatery. So when I ventured to Westchester’s Custom Hotel, a stone’s throw from the airport, for dinner at Bistrotek, it’s cool and modern restaurant, I had the feeling that I was on holiday as I could see planes flying overhead as I approached.

A sleek and swanky hotel, Custom Hotel is also home to a happening outdoor bar and pool scene at its bi-level Hopscotch Pool Bar & Grill also serving gratifying grub from Bistrotek.

Our night began with the stiff and satisfying Ultimate Custom Cosmo, created that afternoon by the bar’s mixologist. Next was a small sampling of the restaurant’s savory soups. We tried the tasty Lentil Soup, along with the hearty Beef & Vegetable Soup, and the Chicken & Rice Soup with matzo ball and moist chicken.

Up next were two appealing appetizers in the Pulled Pork Sliders, tangy with more of a sweet than spicy taste, and the Grilled Veggie Plate with Goat Cheese. If you like your greens this one is a must.

Time for our entrees and that meant a feast was approaching with the Half Chicken order with unassuming salad, perfect for anyone watching what they’re eating, as well as the Salmon, also another fine non-guilty dinner excellent for anyone watching their calorie content, paired perfectly with a Chateau San Michele white whine. And finally, the Custom Burger in its oversized and over indulgent glory; exactly what you want from a burger meal.

Dessert consisted of a flavorful Fruit Tart, and a rich Chocolate Mouse with Strawberries. What more could you dare ask for?
