PEARL’S SUNSET STRIP
THE FIRST LADY OF THE STRIP

When Pearl’s Sunset Strip first opened, courtesy of the fine folks who also own Rock and Reilly’s Irish Pub right next door, there was a lot of buzz; especially considering it sported three outdoor decks and a balcony that overlooks the Sunset Strip—pretty swanky.

I went as soon as it opened, loved the space but wasn’t a fan of the cocktail list. Now, some time later, I finally went back for dinner. Seated outside overlooking The Strip is a definite plus. Too bad I started with a less than impressive French 75 followed by the Whiskey Buck that wasn’t any better. The cocktail list has since been updated for fall so I can’t speak about the new drinks but I think of Pearl’s as a place to chill, dine and enjoy a beer, wine or a simple spirit.

During our recent visit for dinner, we started with the Oysters, which were delectable. Likewise, the hearty Lobster Ravioli made with goat cheese, oyster mushrooms, parsley and roasted pepper cream sauce is a crowd pleaser.

If you’re looking for veggies, we really liked the Crispy Broccolini served with chili oil and aged balsamic. The Chicken Meatballs a La Mirabelle are nice and light. Prepared with roasted tomato sauce, parsley and regiano, it’s a solid starter item. The Grilled Lamb Chops, with red quinoa risotto, grada padano and mint chimichurri, are a solid dish.

And now, Pearl's is bringing a taste of the ocean to the Sunset Strip every Wednesday night with its new lobster promotion, featuring 2lb lobster with sides of seasoned corn and fries for just $25. Starting at 5pm until they run out, this is definitely reason enough to make Pearl’s a weekly hangout. The lobster is fresh and delicious and a great deal—talk about bang for your buck! I will definitely be back on a Wednesday night for sure.

For dessert, we went with the solid Vanilla Bean Budino—this one was absolutely delightful. I have to give it up to Pearl’s charm, her cool, laid back vibe and fine fare. Time spent with Pearl is a good night in the making.

Pearl’s Sunset Strip is located at 8909 W. Sunset Blvd. Hours: Mon-Fri 11:30am to 2am; Sat-Sun 11am to 2am. Call 310-360-6800.
