BOA STEAKHOUSE
STEAK FIT FOR STARS

When you I steakhouse, I often conjure an image of an ‘old school’ haunt, maybe lined with crusty red walls, filled with veteran servers who have been employed there forever. But not in L.A, no, go to BOA Steakhouse and take in the swank, lush, star-driven digs.

Recently, I was lucky enough to attend a dinner at the Sunset Strip BOA Steakhouse put on by the kind folks at the Wine Road of Northern Sonoma County, where we not only got to taste first rate Wines from Sonoma, including savory, vibrant wines from Collier Falls, Papapietro Perry Winery, and Alexander Valley Vineyards, but also indulge in a feast fit for the stars who usually dine at BOA. In case you don’t already know, BOA is a favorite paparazzi location because so many celebrities flock to the West Hollywood and Santa Monica locations to be seen, and take in a stellar meal.

BOA Steakhouse artfully combines a bold, colorful environment with modern-day steakhouse fare. Steaks and chops include a selection of prime Omaha beef such as the 40-Day Dry Aged New York Strip and the “Bone In” Rib Eye, as well as Certified Organic Beef and Premium American Wagyu, all served with a choice of rubs and house made sauces, including BOA’s own J-1 sauce. A full complement of traditional steakhouse sides is offered, including the Classic Caesar Salad made tableside, as well as Mac-n-Cheese. The menu also offers tempting poultry dishes and superb seafood options, a wide variety of Sandwiches and Salads at lunchtime, an extensive cocktail menu and a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list.

During my recent visit, I started with the “Classic” Caesar Salad, a favorite dish of mine. While the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was tempting, the Caesar is just perfect steakhouse fare. Both dishes pair wonderfully with a nice, cool white wine from Sonoma County.

As most steakhouses tend to do, all entrees come a la cart, which means you have to order all of your side dishes separately. Looking at the impressive beefy menu, I had to go with the fabled and hearty 40-Day Dry Aged New York Strip, which was ever so tender and tasty. Paired with a great red wine from Sonoma only made this dish even better.

For our side dishes, we went with the Farmer’s Market Vegetables, Sautéed Seasonal Mushrooms, and Mac-N-Cheese. The veggies were fresh and delicious, as were the mushrooms, but it’s the decadent Mac-N-Cheese that you have to go with if you don’t order them all.

Save room for dessert and get the Classic Cookies and Ice Cream, or the Mascarpone Cheesecake, both of which really cap off your night in style. Go for broke and get them both, go ahead, live like a star!

BOA Steakhouse is located at 9200 W. Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. Call 310-278-2050.
