ARTISAN HOUSE
NEW UPSCALE EATERY & BAR IN DOWNTOWN L.A.

Downtown L.A. just got a little more lively with the addition of Artisan House, a new restaurant, bar, deli and market specializing in local, seasonal fare hand-crafted by skilled artisans.

Revelers have a new cool bar and swank restaurant to go to, while downtown locals now have a healthy market to shop at. Artisan House is located in the historic Pacific Electric Building on Main Street.

Around the corner from favorite hangouts such as Cole’s, the originator of the French dip sandwich, along with über cool bars Varnish, and The Association, the downtown landscape just got hotter with another place walking distance to pub crawl to, or a great location to dine and drink.

Artisan House is where downtown chic meets SoCal gastroculture.  Distinguished by an upscale California Mediterranean menu, comfortable atmosphere and a ninth-floor event space, it offers a new go-to place for the downtown crowd, a stone’s throw away from Pershing Square and the Fashion District, and for residents of the building itself, a nine-story 1905 landmark more recently redesigned as urban loft-style apartment homes.

In fact, Artisan House looks to be a destination for foodies both adventurous and socially responsible as its name refers to the farmers and boutique food makers plying their trade in the region surrounding Los Angeles, producing simple, quality, old-world-style products. While growing a breadth of fresh herbs and specialty vegetables in its own rooftop garden, Artisan House is committed to working with these suppliers, creating dishes from seasonal and organic ingredients and presenting them in a welcoming atmosphere with an uncompromised attention to quality and service.

The menu offers a wide range of delicacies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Items include soups, salads, small treats like Bacon-Stuffed Blue Cheese Wrapped Dates, Escargots Casino, Burrata and Scottish Lox, to hearty sandwiches and flatbreads, and decadent desserts.

Mixologist Elden McFeron III (The Abbey, Samba, The Bazaar @ SLS Hotel) is overseeing the hand crafted cocktails, which include El Margarita, cryofrozen with liquid nitrogen; and Blood N Sand Artisan Way, a “square” of Scotch topped with orange foam, orange zest, and drizzled cherry brandy and sweet vermouth reduction. Among its signature and seasonal cocktails are the vodka-based Artisan Bouquet, the 4-Leaf Agave with tequila cacao, maple syrup and Guinness; the Collaboration, a twist on the classic Manhattan with rye whiskey, maraschino juice, port, sweet vermouth and bitters; and Winter Squash, a mash-up of gin, chardonnay and sweetened pumpkin juice, garnished w/lemon peel.

Artisan House is located at 600 South Main Street. Hours: Monday through Friday…Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Dinner seven nights a week from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The bar is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. The deli/market is open Sunday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to midnight, and Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Street parking and parking lots adjacent to building; valet parking $2, validation provided with Lunch Special. Call 213-622-6333.
