COVID-19 VACCINE ELIGIBILITY
EXPANDS ON APRIL 1

On April 1, any Californian who is 50 or older will be eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. Two weeks later, beginning on April 15, all California residents who are 16 or older will be eligible to book their shots.

How to book your vaccination appointment

As soon as you’re eligible, you can schedule a vaccination appointment through California’s My Turn portal, through your local public health department (L.A. County, Ventura County, Orange County), through a local pharmacy, or through the L.A. City vaccine appointment website.

What if I have a high-risk condition?

If you’re currently eligible to receive your COVID-19 vaccination because of a high-risk medical condition, you do not need a doctor’s note to schedule or complete your vaccine appointment. Instead, you will be asked to sign a “self-attestation” form confirming your eligibility, available here in English and Spanish.

How is California doing overall?

About 18 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have already been administered to Californians, meaning that about 30% of the state’s population has received at least one shot. Roughly 4.5 million doses have been administered in L.A. County alone. You can follow the state’s progress on this vaccination progress dashboard.

This is exciting progress, but we’ve still got a ways to go before we reach what’s known as herd immunity, when most people in a community are protected from getting COVID-19 either because they’ve already had the disease or because they’ve been vaccinated.

As we work toward that goal, please remember to follow all public health guidelines. Wear a mask, wash your hands, skip non-essential travel and continue practicing physical distancing and avoiding large in-person gatherings.
