BRÜ HAUS TURNS FIVE!
STILL A WESTSIDE HAVEN FOR GOURMET SAUSAGES & TASTY BREWS

It’s not easy for restaurants and bars to last in Los Angeles. The culture here is always looking for what’s new or, more importantly, what’s next? We love what’s hot but often move onto the next thing making what was hot ice cold before too long. So we have to offer a hearty congrats to our friends at BRÜ Haus for celebrating five years as a go-to place for gourmet sausages and tasty brews on the Westside, especially considering it’s still sandwiched between Cabo Cantina and Q's.

Five years ago, the Westside was clamoring for its very own awesome beer hall and gourmet sausage place. And BRÜ Haus aptly filled that void. Before that, Wurstküche tapped into something special by serving sausages with beers that propelled it to the top of the L.A. foodie scene sending hipsters and beer lovers to Downtown L.A. to get their fill of sensational gourmet sausages and a slew of wonderful beers.

Where Steingarten L.A. missed the mark overcharging for its beers and food, BRÜ Haus hit the bull’s-eye by offering a solid happy hour, as well as an excellent selection of European beers and full bar.

When they first opened, I loved that I could order Bockwurst, Creole Turkey, Paesano Spicy Italian, Vegan Mexican Chipotle, and Vegan Smoked Apple Sage. There was something for everyone to choose from. And if were looking for something a little more daring, I was a fan of the Duck & Foie Gras hot dog, as well as the Tequila Habanero Chicken, Alligator & Pork Andouille, Duck & Bacon, and American Knockwurst.

Even today, wonderful sides include Sweet Potater Tots, and a Giant Bavarian Pretzel. They’re still a must-have and are perfect for sharing. What better food to pair fine tasting beers with?

While it’s no secret that I’m not a big beer fan, trust these guys to pair just the right brew with whatever you’re ordering as they really excel with that skill set. I was really fond of their pairing the Tripel Karmeliet from Belgium with the Vegan Smoked Apple sausage. While the vegan sausage is a great alternative for anyone looking to avoid meat, the beer really helped bring forth a wonderful taste that just paired perfectly.

Other beers that I found to be new favorites included the Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock and the Maredscous 6 (Blonde). Still to this day, for anyone who does not want to trek to downtown for good eats and beers, now you don’t have to as BRÜ Hausgets the job done.

BRÜ Haus is located at 11831 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025. Hours: Sun-Wed 11:30am to 12am; Thu-Sat 11:30am to 2am. Call 310-473-2337.
