sammie jay

Best described as having the 'X FACTOR,' Sammie Jay truly is an amazing talent with experience & a work ethic far beyond her years. The emotion she portrays through her music is astounding.

Taking Nashville by storm, & fronting her own live band with regular performances in 'Music City' often receiving standing ovations, Sammie Jay soon built up a following of fans drawing media & industry attention and creating a 'Buzz' on music row.

With the freedom to explore all genres of music, and the opportunity to try out these styles at various clubs, with numerous bands, in all sorts of surroundings, Sammie finally came full circle. From the Whitney Houston, Celine Dion & Mariah Carey tunes she would belt out at 7yrs old, through the story telling, hurting, cheating songs of country music to where she finds herself today. Aspiring to the 'old school' soulful sounds of Aretha Franklin, the blues of Elmore James, & with an appreciation of todays pop R&B, this young lady has a 'power house' ballad voice and yet is just as comfortable delivering high impact upbeat tunes, where she excels with all the moves and grooves of an awesome MTV style dancer.

How did it all begin? By the age of three, Sammie Jay was happy to climb up onto any stage and sing along to her favorite tune 'I will always love you,' Being in the spot light and performing whenever and wherever she could find an audience, it wasn't too long before her efforts were rewarded. She was invited to be a guest on the 'Micheal Barrymore Show' for London Weekend Television at the age of 6yrs. With a big slot on national prime time TV, and in front of millions of viewers and a live TV audience, Sammie Jay belted out her interpretation of 'Stupid Cupid' following up with a lively interview by the shows host, and was happy to share her dreams and ambitions to the listening public."I want to become a big star and make records while I'm still young." How young? asked the shows host. Sammie replied "NOW!"

Sammie Jay landed her west end debut role playing 'Little Cosette' in Les Miserables for the Royal Shakespeare theater company at the Palace Theater in London's Shafestbury Avenue, finding this a natural progression and an excellent way to further explore her love of performing and the arts. Then with an ever growing array of professional engagements and credits including TV appearances with a solo singing slot on BBC 1's 'Children in Need' show, the children's TV show Blue Peter, & a couple of appearances on the TV Show 'Noel's House Party' Plus pop videos, movies, TV commercials and catwalk fashion shows for companies like Disney, Umbro, Sindy, plus the 101 Dalmatians video launch. Sammie was ready to widen her experiences even further by travelling to the USA where she lived with her ever supporting family, making new friends and eating up the experiences and thrills of living in Nashville 'Music City of the World.' this lead to many TV and Radio performances including 'The Crook and Chase Show' & 'Todays Country' both on TNN. The nationally syndicated 'Maury Povich Show', WSM'S 'Midnight Jamboree' a guest on ABC's news channel two, Getaways for Sky channel, City confidential A&E etc.

Performing solo on the highly prestigious Grand Ole Opry was an honor for Sammie Jay as this invitation is given to very few new and aspiring young talents. Sammie Jay was also delighted to team up with Rock Legend Paul Rodgers of 'Bad Company' & 'Free' at ItchyCoo Park Music Festival, Tennessee. Where they sang 'Rock and Roll Fantasy' together whilst interviewing TV & radio stations likened her to a young Janis Joplin!

Sammie feels very privileged to have gained so much experience in the industry she so loves. Working and recording in top recording studios such as Abbey Road, Star Struck, Emerald, Sound Emporium, Seventeen Grand, & Paramount in Hollywood. She has been sponsored by companies including Sound Choice, & Heritage Guitars(who built her a beautiful guitar) She has performed at various sporting events and arenas singing the 'star spangled banner'. In front of huge crowds she performed with her own band for July 4th celebrations on the Nashville River Stages.. She has put her vocals to soundtracks, performed in catwalk modelling shows, Photographic shoots, TV, Film, Radio & Music Videos,Voice overs, and Acting. In late 2003 and throughout most of 2004, she joined the cast of Miss Marples Dinner Theater, in downtown Nashville. With regular Musical and interactive comedy show performances where she played "Annie" in The perils of Annie ."Pristina Aguilera" in the Third Annual Crammy Awards, and "Jessica Simpleton" in The Cook and Chase Show. Plus performances at BB Kings, The Mercy Lounge, The Bluesboro, and the Franklin Jazz and Blues Festival etc. whilst in her spare time she began teaching herself to play keyboards and continued with her song writing. Whilst in Los Angeles she has performed in and around Hollywood, including being a special guest of Uli John Roth (The Scorpians) in his Sky Concert Series at the UCLA Ralph Frued Theater. The Beverly Hills Country Club, Charity events for the LAPD,etc. Improv Comedy, and acing in the Beurubian Sketch Comedy Troupe show "As not seen on TV" in Hollywood. Sammie Jay was delighted that her vocals were used on the new CBS TV Show Eleventh Hour. Many people see many things in Sammie Jay. Having been likened to all the greats.
