PRIVATE TROLLEY DINING AT THE GROVE

Who isn’t a of fancy fine dining?  But who also demands bang for their buck?  I am guilty as charged on both counts, that’s for sure.

So, when The Grove came up with its Bistro 1759 outdoor dining concept, I took notice.  And then quickly said, “Oh, hell no!”

Now through August 31, The Grove, L.A.’s go-to outdoor shopping mall, is turning its double decker trolley into a high-end dining experience dubbed Bistro 1759.  Good of a party of 10, you can secure a spot atop the trolley for a four-course meal from Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill while doing laps around the Grove’s park and dancing fountain.

“One of the best things about our properties is the open-air environment and enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather,” said The Grove developer Rick Caruso. “This was a fun and unique way to add to our outdoor footprint while setting a new standard for luxury hospitality. Bistro 1759 is a playful way for guests to experience the magic of The Grove and I can’t imagine an experience like it anywhere else in the world.”

But this 90-minute meal on wheels doesn’t come cheap as pricing starts at $1,000 for a party of two.  Yikes, that pretty pricey for Blue Ribbon Sushi, which is hardly the greatest sushi in town.  You’re better off ordering sushi to go and eating by the dancing water fountain, or take it up to the top of the parking structure and take in the city view.

But if money nor standards is an obstacle, expect courses such as oxtail fried rice, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and sashimi platters.  Kid-friendly options include maki and Blue Ribbon cheeseburger.  So, if you’re game, email VIP@Caruso.com to make reservation.
